Problem Solving Sciences Engineer

This position will be
responsible for leading quality initiatives and supporting a culture
that embraces a quality mindset by championing problem solving efforts,
training others and coaching individuals and teams in the use of advanced
problem solving techniques.

Key responsibilities include but not
limited to:

Lead, train,
develop or facilitate cross functional problem solving teams to perform
root cause analysis of development and/or quality issues using problem
solving tools such as 8D, Shainin Red X, Six Sigma, or Design of

Perform detailed
root cause analysis and identify corrective actions

corrective actions using formal methods and communicate results in formal

Assist in the
development of new or improved test techniques / procedures

Assist product
development and manufacturing in use of problem solving methods to
identify design and manufacturing related influences regarding field
performance or durability issues

Communicate with
customers regarding planning, and execution of problem solving strategy as
it pertains to specific issues

initiatives, activities and findings to local and regional management

Qualified candidates will have:

Bachelor's degree
in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or similar

Experience in
traditional problem solving methods, Six Sigma Green Belt (Black Belt
preferred), Shainin Journeyman Cert (or Apprentice Cert with progress
toward Journeyman)

Very strong
statistical analysis skill/knowledge and ability to apply to development
testing/measurement issues

experience with APQP, 8D, Six Sigma, Shainin Red X, manufacturing and/or
development engineering projects with regard to root cause analysis

Strong knowledge
of automotive engines and subsystems

planning, organization, written/verbal communication skills

Ability to
lead/coach/mentor individuals and teams in the application of problem
solving tools/techniques

Ability to interpret
technical drawings and production control plans
