Sr. Application EngineerThe
Sr. Application Engineer position provides technical support to our OE
Agriculture and Construction customers in the North American market. The AE will
demonstrate strong Engineering skills while conducting bearing analysis,
failure investigation, statistical analysis and other design related activities
using a variety of calculation methods and computer modeling programs to select
suitable bearings to meet customer requirements. Additional duties will include
issuing drawing requests, processing investigation and test requests, ordering
samples, reviewing customer drawings, creating Koyo drawings, generating VA/VE
ideas, investigating warranty issues, providing technical training, providing service
engineering, and visiting the customer as required. Identifying new business
opportunities or providing innovative solutions will also be a key to success.
Because Koyo engineers consult with our internal design groups and help field
sales coordinate projects from inception through delivery with various
departments, organizational and project management skills are essential to meet
multiple project milestone goals on time. This person will show motivation by
working without close supervision.
Ideal candidate will have excellent
mechanical aptitude with a good understanding of rotating machine dynamics in
Agricultural and Construction equipment. Candidate should have excellent verbal
and written communication skills. This position requires 25% travel and 15%
face-to-face meetings with our customers.
Duties and Accountabilities:
Meet with Customer Engineers to
understand bearing requirements, application specifications and project
Select and analyze bearings in
complex AgriCon applications using a variety of proprietary and commercial
Engineering software tools to conduct life analysis, stress analysis,
interface checks and guidance on how to properly apply products,
fitting practices, backing needs, dimensional checks and test
Write reports and make
presentations of analysis results to customers.
Work with Design
Engineering for completion of bearing drawings.
Coordinate with factories
for sample bearing production
Work with Quality group to
insure customer quality needs are met.
Coordinate with customers and
technical centers on bearing testing
Develop test plans,
review/analyze test results and create final test reports to support the
validation of product proposals
Lead/provide failure analysis,
root cause analysis and problem solving of internal testing, customer
testing or application field issues
Regular visits to AgriCon
customers to meet with their Engineers on maintenance, design and VA/VE
Complete detailed customer
visit reports with actionable items within required time constraints,
building customer rapport based on excellence, responsiveness and support.
Manage projects from
conception, through analysis and testing until orders are received.
Conduct training seminars for
Coordinate with cross
functional team on quality concerns on product containment, scope
definition, sorting directions, sort monitoring, root cause analysis, team
problem solving, corrective/preventative actions, internal/external
reporting and material disposition.

colleagues, render assistance as necessary to technicians and other

usage and various inspection techniques and their limitations

Superior computer skills (Word,
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
